Not when you go back in history and look at all of the cool things that Gary Fisher has done. 'The First Name', because Gary was one of the pioneers, up there on Mount Tamalpais. Twenty-odd years ago, a group of Marin natives would hitch a lift up to the top of Mt Tam and ride down on their clunker bikes. Then they'd head back up to the top, (if they could hail a passing truck,) and do it all again...Similar to the current World Cup downhill circuit, but without the body armor.
Pretty cool, but also pretty lame. "Wouldn't it be better to ride back up to the top of the hill?" That was Gary's big thought on the subject. So, he went off with his clunker, and made the first truly 'all-terrain' bicycle. Pretty soon Gary was making bikes for his friends, and later for anyone who had the cash. 'Mountain bikes' was what he called his company. Sound familiar? An Olympic sport and a way of life had been created, all right there in Marin County, CA.

Okay. That takes care of 'The First Name', what about the 'And Last Name' part?
Well, here we are, a couple of decades later, and Gary is still riding bikes, still racing, still contributing some of the sport's greatest technical advances. Last year saw the introduction of (r)evolutionary Genesis geometry, which has been widely hailed.
